Breaking News: Leclaire on the ice at Practice

In surprising news today, injured goalie Pascal Leclaire made an appearance at Sens practice. Not expected to be back for weeks with his mysterious lower body/core injury, Leclaire was a welcomed sight as Ottawa’s goalie troubles have gone from terrible to absolutely dreadful.

Having allowed 20 goals on their current five game losing streak, with their last two games being blowout loses with a total of 13 goals allowed, Leclaire may be ready to suit up for Tuesday’s game against Buffalo. Having a bad season in his contract year, Leclaire hopes to get back on track in Buffalo and get some games under his belt.

What this means for his future in a Sens jersey is still unclear. If he could put together a few solid starts without getting hurt, Leclaire could be an attractive trade deadline pick-up for a team looking to solidify their goal tending. With a little over $837,000 left on his contract by the February 28th deadline, Leclaire is an affordable pick-up especially after his solid performance in last year’s playoffs.

To give Ottawa fans some hope, Leclaire showed his fight as he never gave up on a play in practice. Down and out, Leclaire made an impossible play to stop Daniel Alfredsson on an open net. SenShot has gotten a hold of  this exclusive video. Check it out after the jump to see this amazing save.

From this video, Leclaire seems to be in great shape. We’ll see what he can do Tuesday night in Buffalo.
