All-Star Erik Karlsson

The roster selections for the 2011 NHL All-Star game have been announced and young stud, Erik Karlsson has been selected to represent your Ottawa Senators. In a season of turmoil, Karlsson has been the lone bright spot for Ottawa. Second in team scoring in only his second year, Karlsson is the teams best defenseman and has shown leadership qualities as he tries to help right the sinking ship that is Ottawa’s season. Here’s a great video of Karlsson getting the news that he had been chosen to go to the All-Star game.

With the new format of the All-Star – where there is a captain selected for each conference, then there is a draft held where the captains select their team – this year’s All-Star game should be very interesting. Hopefully the kid will have some fun and be able to pick up a few tricks from other all-stars (ie: Nicky Lidstrom). My prediction is Karlsson will win the hardest shot competition  at the skills competition.

You can watch Karlsson and the rest of the All-Stars on Friday, January 28th at 8 pm for the All-Star Draft; Saturday, January 29th at 7 pm for the skills competition and Sunday, January 30th at 4 pm for the all-star game.
