Game Day: NYR @ OTT
(16-12-1) (12-15-2)
Your Ottawa Senators take on the New York Rangers tonight for the second time in four days. In their last meeting, Ottawa came away with the 3-1 win and Chris Kelly netted his first career hat trick. With the Sens losing nine out of their last 12 games, the Sens are only two points out of the Northeast basement.
With the Sens only scoring 17 goals in their last 12 games, Coach Clouston has changed the lines in hope of finding any chemistry. The forward lines will line up like this to start the game:
Milan Michalek – Jason Spezza – Bobby Buttler
Nick Foligno – Mike Fisher – Daniel Alfredsson
Jarko Ruutu – Chris Kelly – Chris Neil
Peter Regin – Jesse Winchester – Alex Kovalev
Notice that $5 million a year Alex Kovalev will be lining up on the fourth line tonight. His play has been inconsistent and now he is in the coaches doghouse. It’ll be interesting to see how AK27 responds. Peter Regin will also draw back into the line-up after being a healthy scratch for two games. Brian Elliott will get the start tonight and Ryan Shannon will sit in the press box.
The Sens need the two points badly tonight as they are chasing the Rangers for the eighth and final playoff spot. Check back here at SenShot for a game report after the game. Enjoy the game and GO SENS GO!!!!!
