Assistant GM Tim Murray was on the Team 1200 Healthy Scratches today speaking about a few Senators and Sens propspects. He had interesting comments about Senators defenceman David Hale. By his comments, it seems that Hale will be spending the whole year with the big club rather then being sent down to Binghamton. This is to bad for Brian Lee who has only suited up for seven out of Ottawa’s 21 games thus far. Murray hinted that they are working on a trade as they don’t want to carry eight defencemen.
Murray went on to touch on a few prospects in the organization that have fans anxiously waiting their arrival. Patrick Wiercioch is a young offensive defenceman that many thought may be ready to contribute this year. However, through his first 18 games, Wiercioch has only two points and a team worst minus 9. Murray mentioned that Wiercioch needs to learn his role and play within it. It seems that Patrick will need another year or two in the minors before he can star in Ottawa.
Murray also talked about a few of the offensive stars on the Bingo team. Namely Corey Locke (27 pts), Bobby Buttler (21pts) and Jim O’Brien (14 pts) who are leading the charge. Locke leads the whole AHL in points, while Buttler leads the league in goals. Murray also goes into detail about the evolution on O’Brien and how he has a bright future in the organization.
Murray goes on to talk about Roman Wick, David Dziurzynski, Ryan Keller and Eric Gryba. To listen to the full interview, click here. The Binghamton Senators are 9-8-2-1 after 20 games for 21 points which has them tied for 6th place in the Eastern Conference. ‘Til next time, GO B-SENS GO!!!!!
