2nd West (13-6-0) VS. 10th East (9-10-1)
Your Ottawa Senators face the Los Angeles Kings tonight after returning home from their terrible four-game road trip. Being outscored 17 – 6 on the road trip, Coach Clouston has mixed up the forward lines in an effort to find any offense. To start the game, the lines will look like this:
(1) Kelly – Spezza – Alfie, (2) Michalek – Regin – Kovalev, (3) Foligno – Fisher – Shannon, (4) Ruutu – Winchester – Neil
Clouston has also changed his defensive pairings in hopes they resemble a defensive unit that can limit the amount of shots allowed. The new pairings will be:
(1) Gonchar – Kuba, (2) Phillips – Carkner, (3) Hale – Campoli
Erik Karlsson will sit out this game due to the flu, but he also needs to see the game from the press box in order to see what he needs to do to improve his game. And to complete his full scale of changes, Clouston is going with Pascal Leclaire tonight since Elliott has been shelled his last three games.
LA comes into this game having just ended their three game skid, but still having won seven of their last ten games. For Ottawa to win tonight, they will need to shut down LA’s first line that is picking defences apart. Ottawa will also need to get to LA goalie Quick early and often.
This is game #3 on the Kovalev watch as he is only one point away from notching 1,000 career NHL points. Is tonight the night history will be made? Also, will Leclaire get his first win of the season tonight? Check back here at SenShot for a game report after the game. Enjoy the game and GO SENS GO!!!!!
