Game Day: OTT vs CAR

7th East (9-8-1)         VS.      11th East (8-9-0)

Your Ottawa Senators will play the Carolina Hurricanes tonight and will look to right the ship after getting blown out their last game against Philadelphia. Brian Elliott will get the start tonight and hopefully he will get some help.

There will be no line-up changes tonight for the Sens as the forward lines and defensive pairings will remain the same. Brian Lee and David Hale will be the healthy scratches and Pascal Leclaire will be warming up the bench.

Carolina has had a tough start to the season which started withthem playing 11 of the first 17 games on the road. Having had an up and down season, Carolina has trended to winning two games, then losing two games. Having been outscored 15 – 3 in the last two games, both loses, Carolina’s defensive game has been their Achillesheel. And withtoday’s trade with Calgary, which sent Anton Babchuk and Tom Kostopoulos to the Flames for Ian White and Brent Sutter, the Canes will be playing shorthanded.

For Ottawa to win tonight, they will need to shutdown Eric Stall and rookie sensation Jeff Skinner, and get to goalie Cam Ward early. Ward hasn’t been his all-star self this season as he has been pulled in his last two starts letting in eight goals. Ottawa will also need to get secondary scoring from the Michalek – Fisher – Alfredsson line and get their powerplay clicking.

Look for Alex Kovalev to be firing the puck tonight as he is only one point away from reaching 1,000 career NHL points. Check back here at SenShot for a game report after the game. Enjoy the game and GO SENS GO!!!!!
