First, an update at the situation with me and modern technology. Turns out Best Buy sucks, and my motherboard is smoked again. Therefore, don’t expect much posting for the next week. I’ll try to get one or two in, and Tony will put in as well, but not regular programming here at this site. Also, no image on this post due to the fact I’m writing this from my cousin’s work computer.
The starting date for the Ottawa Senators’ Training Camp has been announced, with September 17th kicking the festivites off. The Bell Sensplex in Ottawa will be the site, with the first wave of cuts coming 6 days later. I want to know what you guys think will happen at Camp? Surprises, or the lineup we’ve been expecting all along. Talking with someone earlier this week, management is assured Jared Cowen will at least be in the Top 7 defenseman as the season starts, maybe even out-playing Chris Campoli for the last spot on Opening Night. Clearly it doesn’t bode well for either Campoli or Patrick Wiercioch. Another guy that may surprise a few is Eric Gryba, the big defenseman who reminds be so much of a young Chris Phillips. Interesting, to say the least.
The two season-ending injuries sustained at the tail end of the season last year, Alex Kovalev and Milan Michalek have resumed skating and will be ready for Camp. It will be interesting to see how Michalek will fit into the lineup, either with Kovy and Fisher or possibly a reunification with Jason Spezza and Peter Regin. As well, watch out for Kovalev this season. Contract year, and a possibly deadly duo with Sergei Gonchar on the Power Play.
In un-Sens related news, I have joined FanSided’s soccer site, The FA Daily! I will be their international correspondent, covering the upcoming Euro Qualifying and more. Check it out there!
