Regarding last night’s Volchenkov rumour, it seems like the Vancouver Canucks are trying to change the deal, maybe exclude a guy like Steve Bernier out of it and include a prospect. Right now, I doubt anything will happen tomorrow regarding the Volchenkov front, but it’s always a possibility.
The Ottawa Senators sent qualifying offers to all Restricted Free Agents today, including Peter Regin, Nick Foligno, Jesse Winchester, and Chris Campoli. Expect all of them to be re-signed at least before the second week of July.
Before Draft Night tomorrow, I’m hearing all kinds of different things on who the Senators will draft. One thing is for certain, trading down will not happen, since Murray really likes “a guy”. That guy is Jeff Skinner, C out of the Kitchener Rangers. It’s been hinted he may be a guy the Sens like, but I find it hard that he will fall all the way to #16, unless they move up. Skinner is a great player, good speed, excellent shot, and good play without the puck. I still think the guy should be Emerson Etem, but there’s always a chance his hometown team, the Anaheim Ducks will snatch him up before, but the Ducks have WAY more pressing needs than up front.
As noted two days ago, Don Nachbaur has resigned as the coach of the Binghamton Senators. Therefore, Murray will noce again go choach-shopping. A bit interesting, but really the process shouldn’t take so long. Possibly Malcolm Cameron from the Elmira Jackals could move up the hiearchy., but it’s doubtful.
Look out tomorrow on both Too Many Men On The Site and right here for FanSided’s NHL Draft Chat, starting at 7:00 PM ET&.
