Nothing Gold Can Stay: Capitals 7, Senators 4

“Nature’s first green is gold,
Her hardest hue to hold.
Her early leaf’s a flower;
But only so an hour.
Then leaf subsides to leaf.
So Eden sank to grief,
so dawn goes down to day.
Nothing gold can stay.”

When I read this poem a long time ago, I didn’t understand it. However, know I know that it applies to the now-a-days Ottawa Senators. They were a great team back in the day, and even though they got thier asses spanked by the Maple Leafs, you always knew they were growing up. They showed that in ’07 when they were 3 wins away from winning the Stanley Cup. However, after their 16-4 start last year, they’ve stunk. We thought they were starting to turn it over, but this game officially ends their playoff hopes.

Don’t just blame Brian Elliott. Don’t just blame Jason Spezza. This time, I’m blaming Bryan Murray. I’m tired of his act and I’m gingerly moving toward the “Fire Murray” list. He signed Jason Smith and Jarkko Ruutu, and traded for Filip Kuba, all of which have worked out. Howver, he missed out a lot. Losing on Brian Campbell and Dan Boyle, and now gone away from the Bouwmeester sweepstakes, it’s time he re-signs.

Daniel Alfredsson added 2 goals, along with Antoine Vermette and Dany Heatley depositing their own. It felt like the Sens wereo ut of it after this game was over. Too bad because some players played great tonight.

Since we’re pretty much out of the playoff race, the goal here at Sens Buzz and maybe at every Sens blog is to finish over the Leafs in the final standings. Right now the Leafs are 5 points above the Senators. Yes we can do it!

A quick hit rumor to spread out. Bryan Murray is taking to teams about Filip Kuba and it seems like the Big Czech will be traded for a roster player and a prospect. Also, some teams have asked about Jarkko Ruutu but Murray isn’t ready to let him go.
