1. James van Riemsdyk was held pointless in his return to Philadelphia, and his double minor nearly cost the Maple Leafs a point or more, but Toronto held on to beat the Flyers 4-2.  The Leafs were leading 3-1 on goals from Phil Kessel, Nikolai Kulemin and Mikhail Grabovski berfore van Reimsdyk took holding and hooking penalties on the same play to give the Flyers a 4 minute advantage.  They struck quickly when Jakub Voracek scored 24 seconds into the first minor to bring the Flyers within one, but they would get no closer as Jay McClement scored in the empty net to seal the victory.  Scott Hartnell‘s first of the season was the other Flyers goal.
2. Roman Josi‘s second goal of the game 28 seconds into OT was the difference as the Predators scored 3 unanswered to beat the Stars 5-4.  Josi also added 2 assists for a four point night as the Predators also got goals from Craig Smith, Patric Hornqvist and Mike Fisher in the win.  Matt Fraser scored his first NHL goal for the Stars, and Reilly Smith, Vernon Fiddler and Loui Eriksson added the others as the Stars uncharacteristically got 4 past Pekka Rinne on just 24 shots but still couldn’t get the win.
3. The Oilers tried valiantly, but they couldn’t stop the freight train that is the Blackhawks.  Marian Hossa‘s OT goal gave the Hawks the win and points in 19 straight games to start the season.  Nail Yakupov and Jeff Petry scored for Edmonton, while Patrick Kane had his first goal in 6 games and Viktor Stalberg scored in regulation for Chicago.  Ray Emery needed to make only 17 saves to go 8-0 on the season, while Nikolai Khabibulin stopped 31 shots to get the Oilers a point in the first game of their 9 game road trip.
4. The surging Kings scored 3 times in the third to break a 2-2 tie in defeating the red-hot Ducks 5-2.  It marked Viktor Fasth‘s first loss of the season after starting out 8-0 for the Ducks.  Dustin Penner, Dustin Brown, Jake Muzzin, Slava Voynov and Jeff Carter scored for LA, while Anze Kopitar had three helpers to help Jonathan Quick get above the .500 mark.  Andrew Cogliano and Saku Koivu scored for the Ducks, who lost for the first time in 7 matches.
