The Ottawa Senators fall through the Eastern Conference standings continued last night. For the fourth straight game they too a loss, this time to the Washington Capitals by the score of 5-2.

First Period

The game actually started out well for the Ottawa Senators. They were playing their defensive system and had more shots than the Capitals for the first period. However, a messy play led to the first goal of the game. At that point there was nothing to worry about, down just one goal the Sens could come back. However, with five seconds remaining the Sens let Alex Ovechkin go on a breakaway and he scored, giving the Capitals a 2-0 lead heading into he second.

Second Period

The second period saw the Sens fall apart. They gave up two goals before the ten minute mark and were in a 4-0 hole. They got one back off a goal by Ryan Dzingel. However, the game was all but over at this point.

Third Period

The third period saw the Ottawa Senators get one more goal back, but it was taken away on an empty netter by former Ottawa Senators Alex Chiasson. The Sens lost 5-2.

A Little Fight

This loss marked the fourth straight for the Ottawa Senators. The only saving grace was that the team showed some fight near the end of the game. Down by four goals they brought it back to within two for a time.
