Development Camp has come to an end for the Ottawa Senators and there was one significant standout, Thomas Chabot.

Chabot continues to impress the Ottawa Senators management, coaching staff, and fans alike. He dominated his final year in junior by winning MVP’s and awards for best defenceman. His dominance continued into development camp as he was far and away the Sens’ best player. Not satisfied with his accolades from junior, Chabot says that he is ready to play in the NHL and wants to fight for his spot in the lineup.

A Level Head With Big Goals

One year ago Chabot made the team out of training camp and stayed with the team for the first nine games. However, he only played in one of those games. Chabot doesn’t want another repeat of last year. He wants to come to training camp prepared to take that spot in the lineup for himself. He has even shown excitement for summer training. Chabot told the media that since he hasn’t been able to work out as much in the past few years and is looking forward to taking advantage of this opportunity to improve.

It’s a good sign that Chabot isn’t taking anything for granted. He saw first-hand last year that a spot in the lineup is not guaranteed. He will have to prove that he is deserving of his spot in the lineup. After all, other older and more experienced players won’t be so eager to give up their spot. Fortunately he knows that he has to fight for his spot. This is a good indication that he will succeed in his goal to make the team. This is a good sign for Sens’ fans as a motivated Chabot could turn heads next year.
