Senators end losing streak beat Devils

The Ottawa Senators ended their 3 game losing streak tonight with a 3-1 win over the New Jersey Devils. The Devils losing streak will now span 5 games in a row.

The Hockey game would start off with a spirited bout off a faceoff 1:48 into the game between Chris Neil and Mark Gazdic.

The Ottawa Senators got on the board first with Bobby Ryan scoring 3:59 into the hockey game with his goal tonight, Ryan is now on a three game point streak.

The New Jersey Devils answered next with a John Moore goal that beat Mike Condon five hole

Senators coach Guy Boucher would challenge the goal through a goaltender interference call but the evidence wasn’t enough to reverse the call on the ice.

Moore’s goal would be the only time The Devils would beat Mike Condon on 30 shots tonight (.967 SV %).

New Jersey Devil Mike Cammalleri picked up his 600th career an NHL point tonight with an assist on their lone goal in this game.

The Senators and Devils went into the 1st intermission tied at one.  1:14 in to the Second period the Senators took a 2-1 lead off a Derrick Brassard deflection of a Zach Smith wrist shot from the faceoff circle.

Mark Borowiecki had an interesting shift in the third period when his skate blade fell off. Borowiecki kept falling down well trying to finish the shift.  Borowiecki unable to skate and was yelling at the referee to blow the play dead as the Devils pressed while the Senators were unable to gain control of the puck. The Referee eventually blew the play dead when Ottawa finally touched the puck.

The Devils pressed hard in the final minutes trying to tie the game. Mike Condon had a huge stop on Travis Zajac that preserved the lead.  Zach Smith put the game on ice with an empty netter with just 14 seconds left in the contest.
