Carter Camper, Scott Greenham Lift Binghamton Senators In OT Win

Carter Camper had a two goal night including the game winner in overtime while goaltender Scott Greenham stopped 49 shots as the Binghamton Senators win 3-2 in OT over the Norfolk Admirals for the very last time at the Scope Arena. The win is the second in a row for the Senators as they return home and will prepare to face the Syracuse Crunch on Sunday afternoon.

GAME RECAP

Camper with the early goal in the first scoring his 11th of the season beating goaltender Jason LaBarbera glove side from the right circle with a nice cross ice pass from Shane Prince on a two on one rush for a 1-0 lead. Then with a delayed penalty call against the Admirals, defenseman Chris Wideman’s slap shot from inside the blue line goes through traffic into the mesh to increase the lead to two.

More from Belleville Senators

Norfolk’s Kevin Gagne gets his team on board with his first of the season for a power play tally with Troy Rutkowski off for hooking, from a quick pass by Mike Sgarbossa down low to make it a 2-1 game. Stefan Noesen then nails one off the crossbar as he had Greenham beat.

Admirals tie it up when Sgarbossa’s wrist shot high off the wall sneaks by Greenham that might have been deflected in off a Senator in front, however it’s now a 2-2 game. LaBarbera with back to back saves on Brad Mills late in the third with the Senators applying pressure.

With 2:00 left in the extra session and three on three play intact, Camper skates towards the middle of the slot from the boards and let goes a hard snap shot high beating LaBarbera top shelf with a screen set by Aaron Johnson in front, as Binghamton wins it 3-2 in overtime. Shots for the game favor the Admirals 51-39.

NOTES & OBSERVATIONS

  • Greenham stops 95 out of 98 shots over the last two games as he’s found his way back in the win column after a brief losing stretch.
  • On the flip side giving up that many shots is just plain ridiculous. Luckily Greenham showed up again.
  • Camper continues to come on strong while putting up numbers. His OT goal was spot on as that had some extra torque that just smoked by LaBarbera.
  • Mills with a team high 8 shots on goal as he also has been effective while pouring it on as of late.
  • Johnson stayed out of the box in this one however the team still had six calls against them.
  • Binghamton sweeps the 2 game series for the first time this season in what is really impressive as they have had their troubles over the course of the last 15 years in Norfolk.
