Here’s another edition of our writer’s favourite pieces from the mid-way point in the week. This edition seems to place an emphasis on Trade Talk with a little mix of everything else.

Bonk’s Mullet, “The Week Ahead: Metroschedule Men” – Joe Boughner

Submission: Josh Chenoweth

Bonk’s Mullet provides a look at the week ahead as the Sens try to beat the odds and get back into the playoff race. Sometimes a little humour is just what’s needed, especially given the reality of the Sens’ situation.

Silver Seven Sens “Spare Parts: The Old Guard” – Sheer Craziness

Submission: Trevor Shackles

Along with David Legwand, Silver Seven Sens also looks at other “spare parts” that could be moved, and in this article they focus on Chris Neil and Chris Phillips. The majority of fans want to see them moved, and I 100% agree with them.

Ottawa Citizen “Zibanejad’s game growing with help from Bobby Ryan“.  – Ken Warren

Submission: Charlie Arsenault

Ken Warren takes a look at how Bobby Ryan has not only helped Mika Zibanejad‘s game, but also his confidence.

With the addition of Clarke MacArthur on that line, it’s become sort of a Frankenstein line (Frankenline, if you will) by using the lineup from earlier this season. Hopefully these three can continue to produce the same way they have been for the past couple of games.

Puck Daddy “NHL.com adding Corsi, Fenwick, Enhanced stats next month” – Greg Wyshynski

Submission: Eldrinson Vado

The day has finally come! The National Hockey League has announced that they will be adding “advanced stats” such as Corsi, Fenwick and PDO to their main site. It’s a huge step forward for advanced stats fans like myself. To have these stats welcomed “officially” to the NHL is great for everyone.

Greg Wyshynski from Puck Daddy (Yahoo.com) gives us the 411.

Silver Seven Sens “Sens Defensive Deployment, or the Lack Thereof’  – Richard McCrae

Submission: Zachary Prenner

Richard McRae has a fan post on Silver Seven Sens examining Dave Cameron‘s deployment of the team’s defense.

Always interesting to see how Patrick Weircioch compares to the others and to see if there’s good reasoning behind keeping him glued to the bench half the time.
