Bryan Murray On Chris Neil’s Return, Anderson Trade, Greening On Waivers

facebooktwitterreddit

Bryan Murray spoke with the guys at TSN 1200 yesterday, chatting about Colin Greening, Chris Neil and Craig Anderson.

Anderson, who has been subject of recent trade talk was discussed by Bryan Murray and his availability, he also touched on Injuries and Colin Greening..

Colin Greening

It doesn’t seem like a Bryan Murray thing to openly say a player could be on waivers in the next week. But Murray did.

Colin Greening certainly hasn’t been great, he’s entering the 1st year in an $8,000,000 contract and could face waivers as early as after the all-star break. To quote Bryan Murray

"“I’ve spoken with a number of GM’s to give him an opportunity, nothing has gotten done.In the meantime, I’ve told him he needs to play hockey and I may need to look to put him on waivers at some point”"

Greening’s 2.65 AAV certainly isn’t desirable on the trade market, and with 2 years left after this year; Ottawa likely won’t retain salary. So in that sense, it’s not surprising to hear Murray say no one has been interested in a trade.

Colin Greening had a great year when playing on Jason Spezza‘s wing and a good shortened season. Greening earned an 8 million dollar contract, and things haven’t worked out since.

Known as a hard worker, Murray claimed he could still contribute and work out somewhere. Based on Murray’s comments, it seems as though he’s trying to do the best for the player in trying to find him a place to play.

Injury Updates

Chris Neil is set to return to the lineup tonight, with Curtis Lazar being the one coming out for his spot. For a guy who came back from winning a gold medal, he’s had 2 healthy scratches since.

Mark Borowiecki is still quite a ways away from returning to the lineup after what is defined as a freak accident. Zack Smith, who has had a rough year was not touched upon and could still be out for a while.

Craig Anderson

.. simply stated, when Murray was asked if the team was looking at trading Craig Anderson he said “Now, why would I do that”

Anderson was recently subject to trade talk and speculation as Ottawa is out of the playoff race. Murray acknowledged Anderson’s value to the team as he still believe Ottawa could sneak into a playoff spot.

The Sens are set to play New York tonight, and Toronto tomorrow. Then it’s the all-star break as Bobby Ryan and Mike Hoffman are set to represent Ottawa during the weekend’s festivities.
