I’m tardy, so I’m posting this one late.. but here we are again, with predictions.. these ones being surprisingly optimistic. Go Sens Go.

Trevor Shackles (7-13)

Last game against Detroit the Senators had stretches of dominance and ultimately won 3-1. I think they match up well and win again on the night of Alfie’s retirement, 4-2 Senators

For the record I was going to take the Sens yesterday.

The Senators were outshot 43 to 26. I believe they will lose the game in St.Louis tonight. The only way they win is with an exceptional performance from their goaltenders. The Sens need to change how they are playing.

Listen, I have to believe the Senators win more games than they lose this season, so in theory if I chose Ottawa every game I would have a winning record. Maybe that’s flawed with OT losses.. but what the heck.

Ottawa Wins. Robin Lehner is a beast.

Last night we saw the Sens play like two different teams: the confident team in the third period, and whatever that was in the first two. Either one could show up tonight, but I’d put my money on the group from the third. They’re hungry for a win. Sens take this one.

The Ottawa Senators are coming off a bad 4-3 loss to the Detroit Red Wings last night and things won’t get any easier tonight. Former Ottawa Senator, Brian Elliot is in net for the St.Louis Blues tonight, he’ll go up against Robin Lehner. For some odd reason I feel like Robin Lehner will rob this game tonight and provide a big win. I’m going 3-2 Senators tonight.

My frustrations with this team are beginning to rise just a bit. Ottawa seems to be regressing instead of progressing lately, and at no point during the season have I seen a marked improvement in defensive play (other than the ascension of Jared Cowen from awful to mediocre).

I feel as though in its current composition, including coach Paulrus, that the Senators don’t have what it takes to be more than a middling team like the Sens of 2013/14. Ottawa may win some games this season, but until I see more out of them, or if changes are made (see: player usage, trades), then I’m not likely to bet on them to win on many occasions. St. Louis takes it handily, 5-2.

Sens lose 3-2 to the Blues. The Sens showed they have talent last night by almost coming back against the Red Wings. But with the way the team continues to struggle with shots against, things don’t look good against a deep Blues team.
