Here is the Senshot crew with their predictions for the Senators 3rd late night game @ Calgary. Calgary has been hot and arguably the most surprising team in the early going. What do the Senshot writers think about Ottawa’s chances?

Trevor Shackles (6-10)

Prediction: 4-1 Ottawa. Despite Ottawa’s recent struggles in Calgary, I think they’ll come out with an easy win. Calgary is a very beatable team, and I know the team will be motivated to end the trip on a high note. Look for Ottawa to win the possession battle as well.

Zachary Prenner (7-9)

This is another tough one to call. I don’t think anyone expected Calgary to be the team that they’ve been to this point in the season, and this’ll make things difficult for the Sens when they meet at the Saddledome later tonight.

Mark Giordano has 20 points, that’s 9 more than Erik Karlsson. I have to say that I think Ottawa’s game hasn’t been consistently strong enough to overcome a team that’s rolling the way the flames are. 4-2 Calgary.

Travis Valois (7-9)

Both teams have had issues possessing the puck. Both teams have decent records. I’m going with Ottawa to take this one. I expect a big game from Anderson and the young gun line.

Jack Leiper (7-9)

As Zachary points out above, the Oilers 6 wins have all come against Eastern Conference teams. Ottawa is in a 3 game rut and hasn’t been up to par. I think Ottawa’s defence has another iffy night, and It is hard to take Edmonton over my Senators. But I’m going to say Edmonton takes this one on home ice.

Sens lose 4-2 to Calgary. The Flames have been one of the biggest surprises so far this season, and with a blueline featuring Giordano and Brodie, I just don’t see the Sens’ defence and system holding up.

Calgary has been hot.  Sean Monahan and Johnny “Hockey” Gaudreau are two incredible young players, not to mention that they have Sam Bennett and others coming up. Ottawa has had a little skid the last few game, despite a win against Edmonton.

Craig Anderson gets his 3rd consecutive start after Robin Lehner has sat down after a poor outing vs Toronto. Ottawa’s offence has been good, especially with the recent games of Mike Hoffman and Mark Stone. I’m going to go with my gut and say Ottawa, but these last few predictions have not been easy.

Charlie Arseneault (8-8)

I’m not sure whether to be confident, or nervous after that game against Edmonton. Looking strong against a struggling team is expected, but they didn’t look to be in control after the first 20 minutes. Unlike the Oilers, the Flames are having a great start to the season, currently sitting in a playoff spot. If the Sens can avoid forgetting how to hockey in the last 40 minutes, they should have a solid chance. Sens win

Ottawa looks to finish their western Canadian road trip on a winning note tonight in Calgary. The Calgary Flames continue to be this season’s biggest surprise with a winning record of 10-6-2. An impressive start, especially in their tough division.

If the Calgary Flames regular starting goaltender, Jonas Hiller, were in net tonight I’d give the Calgary Flames a W. But because Karri Ramo is playing, I expect this game to be much closer. The Ottawa Senators are really going to have to bury their chances to win tonight, most likely in another overtime tilt. I’m going 3-2 Ottawa in overtime.
