MATCHUP HISTORY

Last season the IceCaps went 3-1 against the Senators as they lost both games at The Rock while splitting the other two in Binghamton.

PLAYERS TO WATCH

Scott Kosmachuk, STJ – The 20-year-old third rounder in 2012 (70th overall) forward is off to a strong start having two goals in five games so far in the pros for St. John’s. Kosmachuk had 246 points covering four seasons for the Guelph Storm of the OHL, as his offensive output skyrocketed  in 2013-’14 having scored 49 goals with 52 assists in 68 games (Thanks to @LukeWells57 for his player input)

Buddy Robinson, BNG – The ‘really big forward’ is making an impact so far after three games involving himself on the offense side of things creating opportunities with many break-outs capitalizing on his speed and big body strength fending off opponent’s.

TOP 3 STORYLINES FOR THE GAME

1.  Sens Defense Needs To Improve – The early synopsis is a team loaded with veteran defensemen that will not only keep the club in games, but control the flow in aiding the offense. It’s falling short by a mile, but no need to panic after only three games.

2.  St. John’s Early Losing Streak – Not to be alarmed after only five games, but to lose back to back games against the Pens at home over the weekend should raise some early concern’s, as my wishful thinking hopes the Senators chances of pushing the losing streak tonight and tomorrow night.

3.  Hammond ‘s Early Burnout? – He’s not been able to steal a game but continues to get peppered with shots averaging 41.66 over three games with a GAA of 2.93 and a 0.928 SV%. Respectable stats but that’s just crazy that needs to be addressed keeping the SOG to a minimum as the team needs a collective effort in controlling opponent’s offensive chances.
