When the Ottawa Senators take to the ice Thursday night in the second half of their home and home against the Buffalo Sabres, they could have a hometown boy making his NHL debut.

With Jared Cowen suspended for 2 games and Marc Methot not skating this morning, the Ottawa Senators have recalled 2012 first round draft pick Cody Ceci.

Ceci has 17 points (2G, 15A) in 24 games, leading all Binghamton Senators defensemen in scoring, and has a +8 rating.

Ceci was drafted 15th overall in 2012, when he was a member of the Ottawa 67’s.  He wasn’t supposed to be on the short list of call-ups this season as it was felt he required a full year or more in the AHL under the tutelage of Luke Richardson to continue his development.  However, his progression this season has been enough to warrant him getting the call to the big club.  Whether or not he plays looks to be contingent on whether or not Methot can play, and the call-up could just be insurance.

The Sabres face the Senators in the second half of their home and home series, after Buffalo downed the Senators in a shootout, 2-1 on Tuesday night.
