B-Sens Pre-Game: Rochester Americans

facebooktwitterreddit

The Rochester Americans return to the Southern Tier tonight for a 7:05 pm face off at Veterans Memorial Arena in downtown Binghamton. The last time the Amerks played against the Senators was on the tail end of a 7-3 rout by Bingo. In Friday night’s game Rochester went with back up Nathan Lieuwen in the crease as he made 33 saves for the Amerks 4-2 win over the Utica Comets. Perhaps it’s Matt Hackett‘s turn to face the music in front of the home fans as the Sens will be shooting for six straight with Andrew Hammond most likely getting the nod as Nathan Lawson started in Friday night’s win over Adirondack.

-Pre-Game Notes

– Tonight’s game is the Amerks third in four days as Rochester beats Utica 4-2 at Memorial Auditorium on Friday night. B-Sens was also victorious by a score of 4-2 against Adirondack at the Arena last night.

– Senators fell into 2nd place on the pp at 27.4% as Amerks are 3rd at 25.8%. Penalty kill finds Rochester at 28th position showing 75.7% while Bingo is 20th at a 81.1%. Binghamton leads the league with 6 shorthanded goals. Rochester’s Luke Adam has scored in 6 straight road games (8 goals) while Sens Mike Hoffman has assisted in 5 straight home games (with 6.) Adam also leads the league with 13 goals in 14 games with 4 of those being game winners.

– This will be NHL’er Patrick Kaleta‘s sixth game for Rochester since being demoted and clearing waivers after serving his 10 game suspension for the hit to the head to Columbus Blue Jackets d-man Jack Johnson. The long time Buffalo Sabre forward was told to change his playing style if he wants to continue his career in the NHL after being fined/suspended six times in the last four seasons. Kaleta has one minor penalty during those six games while making $1.25m riding the bus in the AHL.

– Defenseman Chris Wideman returns to the line up after serving his one game suspension as the power play unit struggled without him going one for seven last night.
