Two teams heading in opposite directions. The Syracuse Crunch lead by rookie forward Nikita Kucherov stretched their winning streak to five games on Friday with a come from behind a three goal deficit, to end up winning 5-4 in a SO over the Rochester Americans. Meanwhile, the Senators are coming off a rare road loss to the Adirondack Phantoms, also on Friday, by a 3-1 margin and return home as they take on the Crunch at the Broome County Veterans Memorial Arena for a 7:05 pm contest. This will be fourth time in ten games so far this season between the two East Division rivals out of ten total games that the two clubs will play each other.

-Pre-Game Notes

– The Crunch have quietly won 5 in a row heading into tonight’s contest while outscoring opponents 20-7 in that stretch.  They are an explosive team lead by October’s AHL Rookie Of The Month Kucherov, who is red-hot and leads all rookie scoring and is second in the AHL with 19 points in scoring behind Travis Morin‘s 20 points for Texas. He has 6 pp goals and 11 points to also lead the league. Defenseman Matt Taormina is 3rd in scoring amongst D-man with 10 points in 8 games.

– Sens remain in 1st on the pp with a 29.4%, Crunch follow a close 2nd with 28.6%. Pk Syracuse 22nd at 78.7% as Sens are 20th at 80.9%

– Binghamton leads the league with five shorthanded goals.

– Bingo all of a sudden got real young on defense as Mark Borowiecki gets called up by Ottawa to join an overloaded D-man line up. I don’t understand this move but seems as though Ottawa is desperate these days so why not. Or perhaps a trade is imminent.
