The Buffalo Sabres finally got their first win of the season, needing extra time as Thomas Vanek and Tyler Ennis both scored in regulation and then the shootout to take the win.  Buffalo came from behind 3 times in this one, with Ennis, Vanek and then Marcus Foligno with just over 2 minutes left in the game erased another 1 goal Islanders lead.   Ryan Miller mad3 41 saves plus 2 of 3 in the shootout to record the win.

Frans Nielsen, Matt Martin and Matt Moulson scored to put the Islanders ahead on 3 different occasions.
