Evander Kane backed up his words with his actions, as the power forward played almost 21 minutes, fired 8 shots on goal and scored twice to lead the Jets to the win and keep the Devils winless on the season. Kane, who was critical of his team and himself and expressed his frustration following a 4-1 loss to the Stars on Friday night, was like a man possessed, netting a shorthanded goal and adding the empty netter. Andrew Ladd tapped in a final goal with 37 seconds left after the deal had been sealed.  Al Montoya made 24 saves for the shutout in his season debut with the Jets.

Cory Schneider took the loss, stopping 32 shots, with the Kane shorthanded marker going in off his own defenseman Andy Greene after Schneider made the save. The Devils are winless, but the 3 OT/SOL they have managed still have them in the middle of the Metropolitan Division.
