The physical play carried over from Tuesday night, but this time around it was a  little more even than the hitting clinic the Blues put on early in game 1.   St. Louis took a couple of early penalties but managed to kill them off.  After a power play of their own, the Blues got into penalty trouble again, this time giving the Kings a 1:26 two man advantage.  The Kings struck quckly after the second player was sent off, when after the ensuing faceoff Dustin Brown tipped Mike Richards‘ point shot past Brian Elliott to give the Kings a 1-0 lead.

After a scoreless second period, the Blues knotted the score at 1 after a rebound off of Alex Pietrangelo‘s shot went off Patrik Berglund‘s foot and past Jonathan Quick.  That is how the score remained until, with overtime looming, Barret Jackman‘s long wrist shot beat Quick high glove side with just 50 seconds remaining, to blow the roof off the building in St. Louis.
