Craig Anderson To Start For The Ottawa Senators Against The Florida Panthers

Craig Anderson confirmed this morning what most of Sens Army had been hoping for, that he would indeed be starting Sunday evening’s game against the Florida Panthers.

Anderson has not played since sustaining an ankle injury on February 21st against the Rangers.

Despite missing 19 games with the injury, Anderson still leads the league in goals against average (1.49) and save percentage (.952), both by considerable margins.  He was a favorite to win the Vezina trophy at the time of his injury, but now after missing more than 1/2 of the season, that is not likely to occur.

Anderson’s return could not come at a better time, as Robin Lehner struggled against the Sabres on Friday night and could still use some time in a backup role.

Anderson is 9-0-2 in his career against he Panthers, a team he spent 3 seasons with.

Also, Andre Benoit will get back into the lineup, with Mike Lundin coming out.
