NHL Recap: March 13, 2013 – Flames Burn Wings, Devils Ground Flyers

It was a light night in the NHL with only 2 games outside of Ottawa’s 4-3 shootout loss to Montreal.  Here is a quick tour around the league.

  1. Ilya Kovalchuk‘s shorthanded goal late in the first period proved to be the game winner as the Devils beat the Flyers 5-3.  Adam Henrique had a pair for New Jersy, with Patrik Elias and Andrei Loktionov adding singles, making a winner of Johan HedbergJakub Voracek and Scott Hartnell scored for the reeling Flyers.
  2. Curtis Glencross and Lee Stempniak each had a goal and an assist and Matt Stajan had 2 helpers as the Flames beat up on Jonas Gustavsson and the Red Wings 5-2.  Jay Bouwmeester, Alex Tanguay and Blake Comeau had the other Flames goals while Niklas Kronwall and Valteri Filppula replied for the Wings.
