Apart from Ottawa’s 3-2 shootout loss to the Bruins, there was only one other game on the NHL schedule on a very light Monday night. So here is a very quick tour around the league:

  1. Arguably the hottest team in the NHL right now continued to roll, as the Kings used a pair of goals from Captain Dustin Brown to beat the Flames 3-1. Jarret Stoll added the other LA goal, as Jonathan Quick made 22 saves for the win.  Mikael Backlund scored with just over 5 minutes left in the third to ruin Quick’s shutout bid.  Jake Muzzin had two assists for the Kings, as the little known rearguard has 6 points in his last 4 games.

The NHL gets back to full status Tuesday night with 11 games, including a great battle between the Bruins and Penguins, two of the top teams in the Eastern Conference, as well as an all-Canadian battle as Toronto face the Jets in Winnipeg.  Check back tomorrow for a full recap of all the action.
