Aside from the biggest story in the NHL coming from the Ottawa – Pittsburgh game, there were 2 other games played last night.  Here is a quick recap:

  1. Jake Allen got his first NHL win in his first NHL start for the Blues, as they beat the Red Wings 4-3 in overtime.  Allen allowed 3 goals on only 18 shots, but it was good enough as they got goals from Patrik Berglund, Vladimir Tarasenko and Chris Stewart in regulation and Alex Steen got the overtime winner.  Tomas Tatar, Drew Miller and Pavel Datsyuk replied for the Red Wings.
  2. Mike Cammalleri’s goal into the empty net was his third goal and 4th point of the game as the Flames exploded for 7 goals in their 7-4 win over Dallas. Brendan Morrow had a pair in the loss for the Stars, who split their Alberta road swing after beating the Oilers on Tuesday.  The much discussed Jarome Iginla was particularly ornery, recording two assists and also fighting with Antoine Roussel.

That concludes our brief tour around the league.  Six games are on the schedule for Thursday, so check back tomorrow for a recap of each game.
