Binghamton Senators Win 2nd Straight To Open Season

The Binghamton Senators used a pair of goals from David Dziurzynski to remain undefeated on the young season by beating the Rochester Americans (Buffalo Sabres affiliate) 3-1 on Tuesday night.

Robin Lehner served notice that he will challenge for a spot in the Ottawa crease as he was the first star for the second straight game, making 32 saves.  In addition to Dziurzynski’s goals, Patrick Wiercioch netted the game winner in the second period and Jared Cowen (2 assists), Mark Stone (1 assist) and Derek Grant (1 assists) also found the score sheet.

Binghamton socred an even strength, a power play and a short handed goal (the latter into an empty net).

Kevin Porter scored the lone Rochester goal, assisted by 2012 1st round pick Zemgus Girgensons.

Bingo outshot the Americans 35-33, with 17 of the 18 Binghamton skaters registering at least 1 shot on goal.
