The Binghamton Senators defeated the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins 2-1 to open thier AHL season on Saturday night.
The Sens used third period goals from Jakob Silfverberg and Hugh Jessiman to overcome a 1-0 first period Penguins lead for the win. Â Robin Lehner turned aside 35 shots to earn the victory in the Senators net. Â Jared Cowen had an assist in the win, while Mika Zibanejad was held off the scoresheet but led the club with 4 shots on goal.
The win earned new head coach Luke Richardson his first AHL win.
