Bring Back The Senators Part 2

facebooktwitterreddit

Over the course of the next week or two I’ll be making posts featuring scans from various material from the “Bring Back The Senators” campaign. If you’re like me, you were too young (or not even born!) to remember anything about this campaign. This is your chance to have a blast to the past and see parts of how the campaign unfolded. Without further ado, here’s the second post featuring an Ottawa Citizen front page from Nov. 29, 1989, confirmation on supporting the “Bring Back The Senators” campaign, as well as the front page of the first ever Power Play newsletter.

Part 1: https://senshot.com/2012/08/12/bring-back-the-senators-part-1/

Ottawa Citizen Front Page (Nov. 29, 1989): Interesting look at the original design for what is now known as Scotiabank Place. Looks absolutely nothing like the final product we have now.

Letter Confirming Support for the “Bring Back The Senators” campaign: I now own Cyril Leeder’s autograph, wooo!

Certificate of Support for the “Bring Back The Senators” campaign: Cyril Leeder signed this too! Can’t imagine how many papers he had to sign during the course of this campaign.

Front Page of First Ever Power Play Newsletter: I imagine these Power Play newsletters were sent to people who deposited $25 to update them on the progress of getting the Ottawa Senators into the NHL again.

That’s it for this post, stay tuned for the remainder of the Power Play newsletter in the next update! Hope you enjoyed this peak into our Ottawa Senators past.
