This game could have easily been a disaster for Florida. After 6:16 of play they found themselves down by three goals, eerily similar to Game 1. Zach Parise would be the first to score at 0:33, Stephen Gionta at 3:27, and Patrick Elias at 6:16. That would spell the end of Jose Theodore’s night as Scott Clemmensen would take his place. After the slow start, the Panthers regrouped getting two goals of their own late, both on the powerplay. The first would be by Sean Bergenheim at 16:11, and Jason Garrison would get the second at 19:52.

The Panthers would tie the game on a seeing eye point shot by Mike Weaver. With the game tied that would spell the end of Martin Brodeur’s night, showing how much he has fallen this season. Florida would get it’s 4th unanswered goal by Brian Campbell at 6:34 to take the 4-3 lead. They would end up holding onto this lead to take the 2-1 series lead after overcoming a three goal deficit.
