Game 3: VAN @ LA – Where’s the Offence

After losing both games at home, the President Trophy winning Vancouver Canucks looked to have a bounceback game in Los Angeles. In order to shake things up Alain Vigneault would make the decision to start Cory Schneider over Roberto Luongo. It seemed to work in the first period as Vancouver mounted substantial pressure, but were unable to solve Jonathan Quick. LA’s best chance in the period came on a 3 on 1 that Schneider turned away. The second period would be fairly even with both teams getting chances, but neither able to capitalize.

In the third, the Kings would finally solve Schneider. After being knocked down, Dustin Brown would find himself on the side of the Vancouver net being watched by nobody. Justin William’s rebound would be kicked right out to Brown who would make no mistake putting it past a sprawling Schneider. At 6:30, LA would take the 1-0 lead. That goal would stand as the Kings would go on to win 1-0 behind a Quick shutout. They are now up 3-0 and this 8th seed could very well sweep the President’s Trophy winners.
