Monday Morning Three-Peat

Here are the top three stories from around the NHL on Super Bowl Sunday:

1. Jets Blanked By Habs – The Winnipeg Jets‘ offence continues to sputter, as they were shut out 3-0 by Carey Price and the Montreal Canadiens.  They haven’t scored more than 1 goal in regulation since a 4-3 shootout loss on Jan 21 against the Florida Panthers.

2.  Streaking Devils – The New Jersey Devils have made a solid run at the right time, and with 19 goals in their current 4 game winning streak, seem to be peaking at the right time.  Their 5-2 win over the Pittsburgh Penguins on Sunday moved them within a point of the Pens for fifth in the conference.  Zack Parise and Ilya Kovalchuk have set the tone and the Devils appear to have finally realized that Martin Brodeur isn’t going to steal a ton of games any more, and need to score to win.

3.  Rangers Flying – The New York Rangers continue to prove that they are for real, downing the Philadelphia Flyers 5-2 in a chippy Winter Classic rematch.  It marked the 6th straight win for the blueshirts over the Flyers, who after a very good run have cooled as of late.
