Were You At The All-Star Game?

Were you at the All-Star game in Ottawa? If so, did you know about the NHL All-Star FanCam? The NHL passed out the advertisement flyer (seen in the image below) to everyone at the game to try and spread the word. I can now say that it is definitely one of the cooler promotions that I’ve seen the NHL put together.

The idea behind the FanCam is very simple. The NHL took a high def panoramic shot of the entire arena before the game began. Afterwards, fans could visit www.nhl.com/allstarfancam to use an interactive application that allowed them to pan and zoom anywhere in the arena. The image is so clear that fans could zoom into any section, then any row, and then any seat and be able to easily see the person who was sitting there. I had absolutely no problem finding myself using the site. Fans could then tag themselves or their friends with a logo of the team they support. In return the NHL offered any tagged fans 10% off at the NHL online stores. It’s definitely worth checking out the site, especially if you or somebody you know was at the game. Alternatively you could also try and see if you can find any famous people sitting around. Below are several screenshots taken from the site to give you a taste of what it has to offer.
