Your Ottawa Senators close out their pre-season schedule tonight with a battle against the Stanley Cup Champs, the Boston Bruins. With a pre-season record of 2-3-1 so far, Ottawa hopes to reach the .500 mark tonight.

Heading into tonight’s game, there are still a number of uncertainies about who will be on the opening day roster when the season kicks off next week. With the second line center position still up for grabs, especially with the injury to Peter Regin last game, Stephane Da Costa and Mika Zibanejad will make one last attempt to land the role.

On the blueline, Jared Cowen and David Rundblad are hoping to stick around Ottawa a little while longer. Cowen has had a great camp, but will he get the minutes he needs to develop further? If he heads to the Binghamton Senators, he will get number one defenseman minutes and will get to play in every situation.

Rundblad on the other hand has had a decent camp. He has gotten better with every game, but his defense needs a lot of work. However, there is the issue that he may go back to Sweden if he doesn’t make the Ottawa roster. This may force Ottawa to choose him over Cowen and at least let him start the year in Ottawa.

Players To Watch

MIKA ZIBANEJAD has had an up and down training camp. He has found the back of the net a number of times, but he has also looked over matched most of the time. But with the injury to Regin, will Ottawa keep him around for a nine game audition/NHL experience?

STEPHANE DA COSTA hasn’t found the back of the net yet, but he has shown his playmaking abilities. Some time in the AHL may help his game, but maybe playing with NHL stars could too.

Here’s the Sens Line-up for tonights game:

Forwards:

Greening – Spezza – Filatov

Michalek – Zibanejad – Alfredsson

Foligno – Smith – Butler

Condra – Konopka – Neil

Defense:

*Will update them *

Goalie:

Craig Anderson

Anderson will play the full 60 minutes and seems to be over the minor injury he suffered at the begining of the pre-season. Final cuts will be made on Saturday so we’ll see who leaves a lasting impression tonight.
