Home Sweet Home For Canucks

The Vancouver Canucks got back home, and it was just what the doctor ordered for Game 5, as the third line played the hero once again in the 1-0 victory over the Boston BruinsMaxim Lapierre squeaked one past Tim Thomas 4:35 into the third period for the only goal of the game that was dominated by the two goaltenders.  Roberto Luongo erased any doubts about whether he should start game 5 as he was the key in killing off three first period penalties. The netminders combined for 55 saves on the evening.  Here are the game highlights from NHL.com.

It was the second very entertaining 1-0 game of the series, one that was very competitive and evenly played.  This one, due to the tight play, was missing most of the post-whistle shenanigans that plagued games 3 and 4 in Boston.  The teams played hard (and chippy) between the whistles, but didn’t get silly.

The series takes a two-day break as the teams move cross country again for Game 6 Monday night in Boston, where the Stanley Cup will be in the building and the Canucks will try to avoid allowing the series to go to a seventh game.  In order to do so, they must play a better road game than they did on their first trip to Boston.
