The Detroit Red Wings could not complete the epic comeback last night, as the San Jose Sharks finally got their elusive 4th win to end the series.  The “gutless” Patrick Marleau scored the winner on a 2 foot tap-in just past the midway point of the third period.  He followed up goals from Logan Couture and Devon SetoguchiHenrik Zetterberg and Pavel Datsyuk replied for the Wings.

The goal was Marleau’s first point of the series, and he had taken criticism from former teammate Jeremy Roenick for his perceived lack of compete level in his game.  Antti Niemi made 38 saves for the Sharks, bringing his career playoff series record to 6-0.

The Sharks move on to face the Vancouver Canucks in the Western Conference Final which begins Sunday.
