Game Day: OTT @ TB

15th East (29-37-10)VS.    5th East (40-24-11)

Your Ottawa Senators continue their three game Southeast division road trip as they take on the Tampa Bay Lightning tonight. Having gone 6-3-1 in their last ten games, Ottawa should not be taken lightly, especially by the Lightning. With this game being the third time these two teams have met in the last 18 days, Ottawa looks to win three in a row and win the season series as they have won the last two games.

Tampa comes into this game limping into the playoffs. Having gone 3-3-4 in their last ten games, the Bolts only hold down a playoff spot because of their strong play in the first half of the season. Look for this game to be a close game as the three previous games were all decided by one goal.

Players to Watch

Ottawa – Curtis McElhinney will get the start tonight as he has won the previous two games versus the Bolts. Can he go 3-for-3 tonight?

Tampa – Steven Stamkos  will look to get back into the goal scoring race as he has given up the lead to Anaheim’s Corey Perry. And with seven games left in the Bolts’ season, will Stamkos hit the 50 goal mark?

Keys to a Ottawa Victory

Shut down the big guns – Chris Phillips and Brian Lee have done a great job at containing Tampa’s big three in the previous games and tonight will be another tough test.

60 minute effort – watching the Sens comeback from one or two goal deficits are fun to watch, but Ottawa can only go to the well so many times before there is nothing left.

Penalty kill– with Tampa’s 6th ranked powerplay, Ottawa’s 8th ranked penalty kill will have to be perfect tonight to make sure the Bolts don’t build any momentum from their special teams.
