11th East (33-32-4)VS.15th East (25-36-9)

Your Ottawa Senators continue their three game home stand with a match-up tonight with the New Jersey Devils. Coming off an embarrassing loss at the hands of the Penguins, Ottawa will look to rebound tonight with a solid effort and try to end their two game slide.

Having beaten the Devils a week ago 2-1 in New Jersey, the Devils will look to repay Ottawa and hand them their 25th loss on home ice. Called up for this game is forward Roman Wick  and defenceman David Hale. Both are on their second re-call of the season and are looking to impress and stick with the big club till the end of the year. Goalie Craig Anderson has a minor injury and will back-up this game as Curtis McElhinney will get his second start as a Sen.

The Devils  come into town just six points out of 8th place in the East. Having played amazing Devils hockey over the last three months, can they finish their miracle run and actually make it into the playoffs? Tonight’s game is a must win as Toronto and Atlanta play tonight too.

Players to Watch

Ottawa – Roman Wick had a decent showing in his last call-up. He got into two games and earned more ice time in his second game. With good size and a lot of speed, we’ll see tonight if he can show he belongs in the league.

New Jersey – Martin Brodeur  has been on fire as of late. Winning seven of his last eight games, Brodeur is averaging less than two goals against in this stretch.

Keys to a Ottawa Victory

Snoozefest – beware of the Devils trap. If Ottawa falls into their trap, prepare for a long night. (note: thank god it’s St. Patty’s Day so you can drink all you want while watching this game. It’ll probably make the game a whole lot more entertaining.)

Shut Down Ilya– Kovalchuk has been leading the charge as the Devils work on their improbable run towards the playoffs. Shut him down tonight at all costs.

Coaching – Clouston versus Lemaire. Clouston needs to bring out all his tricks tonight to beat the stifling style that the Devils play. Can Clouston outwit the old vet?
