Ottawa Claims Marek Svatos

The Ottawa Senators have claimed forward Marek Svatos off waivers from the Nashville Predators.

The 28 year-old forward spent 5 full seasons with the Colorado Avalanche before beginning this season in the KHL.  He returned to the NHL by signing with the St. Louis Blues, but was claimed by Nashville before he had a chance to suit up for the Blues.  He played 9 games in Nashville, before a knee injury forced him to miss the Preds’ last 13 games.

Svatos has been injury prone, never having suited up for more than 69 games in any NHL season.  His career highs in goals (32) and points (50) were set in his rookie season of 2005-06.
