Your Ottawa Senators battle the Florida Panthers tonight at SBP at 7pm. With Ottawa riding many streaks coming into the game, which ones will end and which ones will grow? One streak Ottawa hopes ends tonight is their ten straight loses on home ice. This streak is one off their franchise worst 11 straight loses on home ice, and is eroding the Sens fanbase in O-town. You have to think hope they are due for a win soon.

Another streak they are hoping to extend is their one-game winning streak. Having not won two games in a row in two months, Ottawa hopes tonight’s the night. Ottawa would like to extend their shutout streak too as they have played 69:08 minutes without letting in a goal. (hey, when you’ve had a season like Ottawa’s, you have to celebrate the little things)

Florida comes to town fighting for their playoff lives. Seven points back of the 8th place Hurricanes, Florida has two games in hand and three teams to jump over. With their huge loss to the Islanders last Monday, the Panthers have lost three out of their last five games. Tonight’s game could go a long way in deciding what the Panthers do at the Trade Deadline which is five days away.

Player to Watch

Ottawa – Craig Anderson will play his first game in front of the Sens faithful. Setting the bar extremely high for himself with his 47 save shutout win over Toronto this past weekend, we’ll see how Anderson can hold up in a hockey crazed town like Ottawa.

Florida – Dennis Wideman has been on fire lately. With eight points in his last eight games, Wideman is second in team scoring and tied for first in assists. His name has popped up in the rumour mill as of late and might be showcased these next few games to increase his trade value.

Keys to an Ottawa Win

Goal tending – what Saturday’s win over Toronto proved was that Ottawa needs an elite goalie that can steal them games. Is Anderson that goalie? We’ll find out tonight against one of his former teams.

Scoring – with only six proven NHLer’s up front, Ottawa has to hope their AHL call-ups seize their opportunity and net a few goals.

Sens Army – it has been a horrible season this year. But Sens Army needs to support their team. With so many new faces, fans need to show them why this is Hockey Country and why they want to play hard for us.
