In Senators news,

Right-winger Alex Kovalev  feels like he is being made the excuse for all the Sens troubles. He feels like he is not being used properly by Coach Clouston and that he needs to be left alone to produce. Having only 14 points on the year, Kovi is on pace for his lowest point totals of his career. In his final year of his contract, one has to wonder if AK27 will finish the year in a Sens jersey.

Rookie Bobby Butler  has been sent back down to Ottawa’s AHL affiliate, the Binghamton Senators this past Saturday. Having been called up to add some offensive punch to the Sens line-up, Butler fail to register any points in the four games he saw action in. This NHL stint was a reward for leading the AHL in goals when he was called up, however, his performance proved he is not ready for the NHL yet. Butler was pushed around and muscled off the puck often, and fail to net any points despite playing alongside Jason Spezza on the top line. Butler will go back down and will work on becoming stronger and faster so he can excel at the NHL level.

The Sens have learned this morning that goaltender Pascal Leclaire  is now out with a lower body injury. Having got the injury in his 3-2 victory over the NJ Devils Friday night, Leclaire is apparently too hurt to back-up Brian Elliott Monday night against the Thrashers. Robin Lenher is expected to be called up to play back-up Monday as goalie Mike Brodeur is also out with an injury. This is the second time this season Leclaire hasn’t been able to suit up for a game due to injury. The first time was a groin injury that kept him out seven games. It seems that every time Leclaire starts to get going, he gets injured. Whether he is cursed or just has horrible luck, you have to feel bad for the guy. ‘Til next time, GO SENS GO!!!!!
