The Binghamton Senators announced today that they have signed forward Yannick Tifu (solid hockey name) to a one-year AHL contract. The 25 year old centre stands 5’11” and 193 lbs and can also play left wing. This man of mystery had an eventful 2009-2010 season. He played 64 games for four teams in two different leagues last season. Tifu played in the ECHL for the Victoria Salmon Kings and the Elmira Jackals. And he also played in the AHL for the Albany River Rats and the Binghamton Senators. Tifu scored 60 points over his 64 games.

Playing seven games for Bingo last season, Tifu scored two goals and had one assist along with two penalty minutes. Tifu is a depth signing and will be battling for playing time in Bingo with all the young forwards coming in. But Tifu does have experience and may have a leg up on all the new faces coming to camp this year. And this AHL contract might give him the confidence to burst out and regain his scoring touch from his junior days.
