Hey There, Remember Us?: Senators @ Sabres Preview

Of course, only one goalie in that picture plays for their team now. And it’s not Ray Emery. Ryan Miller and Ilya Bryzgalov over in Phoenix are my MVP’s of this season. Not Stinky Ovechkin, Not Whyin’ Crosby. THe MVP should be given to that person who matters most for their team. Without Ryan Miller, Buffalo would be in the bottom of the standings. Without Ilya Bryzgalov, the same goes for Phoenix. Those two lead their team to vicotries and make those big saves that your coach is gonna love, night in and out.

Ottawa of course will have a hard time tonight in Buffalo against the Sabres.. Buffalo has what I call a “raunchy” defense. They seem to work hard, pinch in, but never get caught out of play. Tyler Myers makes a strong case for the Calder, as he’s been the pivot at only 19 for the Slugs. Ottawa will be without the services of Alex Kovalev, who has bad back. May be the reason why he has no point to show for since the Olympic Break. Ryan Shannon draws back in, and if there’s any chance he wants to stay in, he’s gonna have to have a heck of a game. Watch out for Nick Foligno tonight. He has something to prove and he wants to move up the depth chart. On the Sabres side, the guy that can hustle and bust ’em is Thomas Vanek. He’s scored many times against Ottawa in his career, so this could be a tipping point.

Ottawa has owned Buffalo the past few years. So far, they’re 4-0 against them. If they can sweep the season series, that would be pretty special. With Buffalo likely nearing the Northeast Division win, it could be a smart thing to drop to 6th place and play Buffalo. It never hurts to pick and choose your opponents. Pittsburgh did it, and how did that work out?
