Ryan Shannon is a very fast, versatile, and useful player. In my opinion though, he isn’t having the best of seasons on the campaign. Only 5 goals after blowing winds when the top line was out. He’s been on a line with Alex Kovalev and Peter Regin for some time, so it looks like Cory Clouston thinks those three have developed chemistry. The Sens re-signed Shannon yesterday to a one-year, $675,000 contract. A bit surprising, garnering he has been subject in some trade talks. Murray has previously been against the idea of sign-and-trade, so don’t expect him to be moved.

A Look at Our Defense
The secret to the Ottawa Senators’ success this season in my opinion has been depth on offense. Usually the regular one-line team, Bryan Murray transformed Les Senateurs into a full-blown offense which can score on all cylinders, and it really kick-started when he signed Alex Kovalev and trade Dany Heatley for some feet up front. However, we can not take anything away from the defense, which has stood up during the great streak Ottawa went through lately. Still, we can fix things, and fixing is always good.
Right now, here is how our defense is looking like. Note that Chris Campoli [...]
The Other Way Around…
Even though this may be self-gloating, I usually have a good track record on the prediction corner. Just look at my game predictions record for this year. 29-20! Likely better than PIERRE MCGUIRE!!!!!, Darren Dreger, Bob McKenzie, and Nick Kypreos combined if they ever predicted on games. But in this Olympics, I have dearly and pathetically sucked. I predicted a blowout vs. thw Swiss, nada. I predicted a win against the Americans, nada. So just because of that I’ll say Russia wins. Deal with it.
SenShot has found out that Bryan Murray has been working out a deal during this current Olympic Break trade freeze and it seems as if the trade will be done once the freeze is lifted or on the verge of being done. The exclusive details aren’t imminent, but it seems like the trade will work out be a 1-for-1. That means Ottawa will be getting a defenseman and in return will be parting ways with a forward. As said before, I am not sure on who’s who, but have some ideas.
A source told me late last night that a deal [...]
Kane vs. Toews, Crosby vs. Kessel, Keith vs. Rafalski, Brodeur vs. Miller, CANADA VS. USA!!!
A game that only Canada will be watching(thanks, NBC) is likely the game that both team need to win. I have a feeling this game may decide the Olympic Champion in Hockey, whether it is Canada or the States. Own the Podium failed us, now Canada’s team needs to take matters in their own hands. They need to restore Canadian pride and culture right in the game of hockey.
5-3 for the Cancuks tonight. Bergeron, Richards, Keith, Crosby, Nash for Canada. Kane, Backes, Rafalski for America.
GO CANADA GO!!!
Hangtime on the Trade Job
Exactly a week ago, Bryan Murray took advantage of the roster freeze before the maximizing Olympic games took over. The righteous dictator made one of his world-famous fix-it-up moves before the Trade Deadline by acquiring Matt Cullen from the Carolina Hurricanes (remember them?) for Alexandre Picard and a 2nd round pick this summer. To Peecard I say adieu, and somewhat hope he has a good time in the Carolinas. He never panned out for us and this season was one to forget for him. He was severely outplayed by guys like Erik Karlsson, Matt Carkner, and most importantly, Chris Campoli. He [...]
Back on the Streets
Hey, guys, how’s it been going around the land of the Great White North? Your favorite Senators blogger is back after a lengthy break for his hobby due to a crashed motherboard, personal time, and all that stuff. But now I’m back and even better, with a guaranteed one stop for all your info Sens and hockey all across the globe. I will put this behind me and continue to rock on!
A lot has happened during my leave of absence. A continuing surge of the Ottawa Senators, Jason Spezza going all Maurice Richard on us, Jonathan Cheechoo finally being demoted to [...]
Review: FanPulse iPhone App
A couple of weeks ago I was contacted by a person within the Apple business. As a member of the Ottawa Senators blogosphere, I got to see a sneak preview of the new Senators app for the iPhone. Here’s what I have to say about it…
IT’S AMAZING!!!
The FanPulse Senators app allows fans alike to follow Ottawa and discuss in live chats before, during, and after the game. The app gives you the live score and up-to-the second updates about who scored, who’s on the ice, and who got the penalty. The FanPulse app also allows the regular fan at work to [...]
