Welcome to this week’s Daily Shots! Daily Shots gives you all the information, facts, and opinions on everything Sens!

So it’s now 7 in a row, as Brian Elliott and the Ottawa Senators shutout the New Jersey Devils 3-0. Alex Kovalev, Milan Michalek, and Jason Spezza scored to give Ottawa the win. I’ve got to say, this team is as confident as the oodles of talent teams back in the day. The difference? Pierre LeBruun said it well. This team is playing like a team, skill, heart, grit, and all the sandpaper you need to make the playoffs. How’s those predictions going, Nick Kypreos, Bob McKenzie, Pierre McGuire, Ray Ferraro, Darren Dreger, Mike Brophy, Darren Millard, Doug MacLean, Steve Ludzik, Steve Kouleas, Mark Osborne, Elliott Friedman, and every other freakin “expert” who said Ottawa would not make the playoffs.

So Graeme Nichols over at The 6th Sens suggests Peter Muellers may be a guy Ottawa is looking at. I haven’t heard anything about Mueller and the Sens, but I like the reasoning for Peter. He’s young, big fast, and has lots of potential going for him. Mueller has 13 points (3,10) this season but that’s because he’s been getting his nose dirty with Coyotes coach Dave Tippett. A change of scenery may be beneficial, and likely it wouldn’t cost much for the American. I’ll bet the Yotes will get a call from my two cents.

Supposedly Viktor Kozlov has been “kicked” off Team Russia and it’s likely Russian GM Vladislav Tretiak will name Kovalev to the team. Personally, it’s awesome that Kovalev’s hard work is now paying off by getting a free trip to Vancouver, but I worry of how this affects the NHL. How could Russia change their roster, when teams are trying to accomodate everyone. I’m guessing this may be just messing with Canada’s head.

Ottawa heads now to Pittsburgh to face off against the Penguins. I think they can win their eigth mainly because some players on the Senators would literally want to kill the Penguins right now. Folk,s it may be nasty one.
