Today is the last day of the first decade of the third millenium. More important, it was the first hockey decade. After seeing other guys doing all-decade teams for their respective teams, I’m going to give it a shot. All in all, the decade was a very tumoltous one for Ottawa. After starting their new franchise off rough, there was promise going into this decade. The team did make the playoffs a large numer of times, but to no avail in the end. The first years were just continuing losses to the Toronto Maple Laffs, who weren’t that bad of a team [...]

Ottawa Senators All-Decade Team
Picking on Picks
So Mike Fisher didn’t make the cut. He’s probably disappointed after all what was said about him being a real cadidate on making the team.People may look back at that and scoff at it. However, he was in the thick of things. I was told late last night by an exclusive source that Steve Yzerman and co. had three REALLY BIG questions. First, it was Drew Doughty or Jay Bouwmeester, Mike Richards or Jeff Carter, and Fisher or Patrice Bergeron. By the beginning of the week, Team Canada brass was convinced they would take Patrice Bergeron of the Boston Bruins. First, he’s [...]
Guts and Glory Prevail
Last night was a frenzy at Scotiabank Place. I don’t know if it was the rompus and bastard-like passionate Hab fans that made it so damn satisfying to see Ottawa complete the comeback and win 4-2 despite the antics of Kerry Fraser, but that was one good time. Montreal had their feet on the gas in the 1st where they got two goals out of it, but after that it was all Pascal Leclaire. He completely owned the Habs, where Ottawa took over and stymied them. He didn’t have the greatest start from his freak injury, but he really does make [...]
Lines for Tonight
With a bunch of injuries plaguing the team here is what the new lines will look like tonight in Buffalo where Ottawa will try to win the 3rd game of their season series against the Slugs.
Michalek – Fisher – Kovalev
Cheechoo – Regin – Neil
Ruutu – Kelly – Shannon
Donovan – Winchester – Keller
Phillips – Volchenkov
Kuba – Karlsson
Picard – Carkner
Pascal Leclaire will start in goal tonight. Remember, these aren’t final, but I think these are the best looking lines at least for now.

FanSided Enemy: Pens Labyrinth
Tonight, Les Senateurs open a 2-game road trip on the East Coast. Tonight, they visit the somewhat friendly confines of Mellon Arena for a date with the Pittsburgh Penguins. This will be the 3rd game of a 4-game season series against the Pens. The first game game went to Pittsburgh 4-1, while Ottawa exacted revenge and dominated the Penguins en route to a 6-2 victory in the 2nd game. So far Milan Michalek and Chris Phillips have led the charge for Ottawa against Pittsburgh, while Jordan Staal and Tyler Kennedy have lead the charge [...]
After watching the game, I was pretty much flabbergasted. My buddy and I were talking before the game how the Sens hadn’t been shutout at all this season. Well, it looks like we jinxed them. So many pucks were thrown at the net and the Sens did have good chances to get the lead in the 1st and 2nd period. After that, everything collapsed, and we came out to play the 3rd like a bunch of chickens.
I am going to directly blame fault to Filip Kuba for the 1st goal. First, how could you pass the puck to a player [...]
Bow Wow Chicka Wow Wow
Sorry for the lack of posts this weekend, but my computer was on the down. I’ve done some repairs and it’s back on it’s feet. Hoperfully it does so more than one week.
I went across the bridge to see the game against the Burning Wild on Saturday, and let me say, it was a blast. Everyone put a full effort in the game and took advantage of the Wild woes. For example, Milan Michalek’s goal went through Niklas Backstrom’s new pads and in the net, giving Ottawa that early two-goal lead. On Erik Karlsson’s first career goal, the Wild players [...]
17 wins symbolizes something…
Last year, on February 3rd, the Ottawa Senators had 17 wins under their belts. That day, Craig Hartsburg was fired from the Ottawa Senators as head coach and replaced with now saviour coach Cory Clouston. Today, we are 17-12-4, symbolizing our rise since the dark days of Craig Hartsburg. I criticized Bryan Murray heavily for axing Hartsburg, but now it seems he might have been the only problem last year.
Another thing to note is that on January 20th, the Sens got their 38th point of the season. Today, they already have 38 points. Be thankful, Sens fans. Be thankful.
