Just a few hours ago the Ottawa Senators announced they have sent down defenseman Brian Lee to the Binghamton Senators. Well, I thought Lee was doing great but hey, Volchenkov’s coming back! Hooray! No, no I am absolutely wrong. After Lee’s demotion, the Sens re-called Erik Karlsson from Binghamton. In sequence of all these events, I drop down dead and startled.
The Swedish Boy Wonder has 11 points in 12 games with the Baby Sens after being demoted after 9 games. For some reasons, though, Bryan Murray has scractched his itchy finger and has told him “You’re back, Heinz!”. Even though most will be quick to point out Bryan Murray’s retardation, I see a silver lining. I’ve heard that Anton Volchenkov will be back Tuesday in San Jose, andwith a 5-game road trip looming, what better way to tell Erik Karlsson what the real NHL is like than bringing him up on a road trip with a alot of smelly, gross men to the Wild Wild West? I’m convinced now Bryan Murray’s a genius.
No, really. I believe Bryan Murray re-called Karlsson for a reason. With the World Juniors coming up and Karlsson likely to be on Sweden’s team, Murray should give him one more chance, and this time on a long road trip to test his delights. And to all those who say Karlsson has clearly stated he hates Binghamton, you need lives.
For one, Erik Karlsson is excelling in Binghamton. He’s playing with “veteran” Tomas Kudelka and those two and playing well together. He’s made the Bingo Power Play about 10x better and he’s getting adjusted to the North American game. The well being of the Big Sens is more important than the Baby Sens, and Murray just wants to see how Erik’s doing. I’m going to say this though, there’s no need to anger Brian Lee, because he needs to get his chances. For those who say a year will be burned off his contract, who cares? Two years will be left next season and you can bet he’ll be re-signing at a reasonable price.
Today in Cam Barker: Um, quiet day today? You’ve seen a lot of those lately and maybe the Hawks will hold of those signings for some time. I can re-assure everyone one that the Leafs also want in and have better trade options than Ottawa but for one Burkie Bingo won’t want any over-priced gluestick (Brent Sopel). I still think we should go after Barker though.
